Building

BMD, and nothing else.

BMD is the only business I run. Everything else I started is closed, and that was the decision rather than the accident. Current work is the same shape it has been: the marketing function inside Saudi and Gulf companies, structure first.

Writing

A book, and a newsletter.

The book is Building Marketing Department. It is not finished, and I have stopped announcing dates for it, which is the only honest thing to do after missing one.

The newsletter is Second Opinion, fortnightly, in Arabic and English written separately. One marketing decision per issue, with a verdict.

Publishing

Arabic video, mostly.

Marketing breakdowns on YouTube, in Arabic, with the short versions on TikTok and Instagram. The room they are recorded in is a desk, a laptop and one microphone, and that is on purpose.

Where

Riyadh.

Based in Riyadh. The work takes me back to the Eastern Province and to Jeddah most months, and out into the wider Gulf less often than people assume.

Not doing

The list that keeps this one short.

  • Starting anything new. Three closures bought me the right to say that plainly.
  • Fractional CMO retainers.
  • Agency work of any kind.
  • Announcing a publication date for the book.

If this page is more than a few months stale, the date at the top is the thing to trust, not the content under it.
